Burning Ones

We have a useful fireplace in our little house. I love it for its warmth AND for its beauty. I enjoy quiet nights after the kids are sleeping and Heath's at the computer, setting myself in front of the flames and watching the burning. One night, mesmerized by the dancing flames and pulsing red logs, I glanced at the dull brown logs sitting on hearth waiting to be burned. I looked at them for a couple seconds and turned my attention back to the blazing logs. There was nothing captivating about them.

I long for my life to be blazing with the love of Jesus. When we are burning with the love and Presence and glory of Jesus, it is mesmerizing. We give off warmth. We're interesting to gaze at. And when people ask us how we're burning, then we get to share of the all consuming love of Jesus. But if we are a cold, cut up log, no one will look to us longer than a few seconds. Have fun burning!

BURNING ONES by Chris Quilala on the Consumed album from Jesus Culture
We are your burning ones
We are consumed by You
We set our lives apart
We are consumed by You

So let this life be like a fire
Let our life be like a flame
Fill our souls with Your desire
Let our passion bring You fame
