I HIGHLY recommend the book, "Pagan Christianity" by Frank Viola and George Barna. Warning: be prepared to be challenged in your perceptions of the institutional church and its practices. It will highly offend some, encourage some, and liberate others.
And if you were ever wondering what I believe about The Body of Christ and the institutional church, this book articulates my views much more clearly than I ever could. As we have had prayer meetings for the last 4 years, we have experienced what they describe as "the organic church." And it is AMAZING. I LOVE Jesus, who is the Head of His Body. I LOVE His Body who is His LIVING BRIDE.
