About a week ago, I resolved to hug the kids more after hearing that people need 12 hugs a day to grow. The type A part of me went a little batty trying to figure out if I've hugged everybody enough each day. Soooo, the type A part of me came up with a system! :-) Before breakfast, lunch and dinner (since we're ALWAYS together), everyone will give everyone a hug. That will be about 15 hugs a day (give or take a few). Takes the pressure off me and everyone gets to bear the weight of 12 hugs a day! (that's a lot of hugs if you have more than one kid!)
This morning, as we were giving and getting our morning dose of hugs, Elianna wasn't so excited about her boisterous brothers pouncing on her for a hug. So I told them to leave her alone if she didn't want a hug. Asher, with big, unbelieving eyes looked at me and said in a very concerned voice, "But if we don't hug her, she won't grow!"
I forget how literal they are!! :-)
