Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
--------
The part ministering to my heart is the phrase in bold. It doesn't say, "Rejoice in your circumstances always." No! It says, "Rejoice in the LORD!" I can do that!! I love Jesus so much and have so much about him to meditate on, be thankful for, rejoice in! He can keep our minds rejoicing when our thoughts are fixed on HIM. But how difficult is it for us to rejoice when our minds are caught up in finances flowing out but not flowing in, or health failing not strengthening, or children rebelling not obeying, or . . . or. . . or. When we allow our thoughts to be consumed with our situations, we cannot easily rejoice in anything. That is why Scripture urges us to keep our minds fixed on Jesus. He is the essence of JOY! Scripture says the oil of joy was poured out on Jesus more than on anyone else. He's the most joyful being in the universe. Step into Him and experience His joy. That's my mission in the midst of our stressful transition. I know that's God's heart for me . . . and you!
